The bells of St James the Great , Barrow-
The details of the bells are as follows::-
The Church has a fine set of bells hanging high up in the tower, that were rung regularly until just before 2000. One day in the future it is hoped that these bells may once again ring out over Barrow, especially for Weddings and Sunday Services.
The bells are in need of some TLC, and would be inadvisable to ring them now (especially having been still and silent for so long) without performing essential repairs.
The bells can be restored, in fact many rings in the country that were in worse state have been restored. However this may not happen for some time to come, especially as it would cost many thousands of pounds to do a proper job (perhaps up to £40,000 or so).
